Ride, commissioned by The Wapping Project for their exhibition Turning the Season looked at the English season and by extension, the English class system.

Luca was asked to make a duet that responded to the “sporting physicality of the season”, and devised a dance piece that centred on the relationship between an Ascot lady and the subject of her fantasies, a jockey.

Ride, played as if coming out of nothing and disappearing into nothing, was atmospheric and fun; Jules Wright described the work as “…extremely provocative and sexually, sensually in your face. […] A commentary on class and aspiration.”

Ride is Protein’s third Wapping Project commission.
